Vicki's Real Bride Spotlight: Rebecca

This month we are shining our Vicki's spotlight on one of our Vicki's Bride who is about to celebrate their first wedding anniversary! How time flies. So here is Rebecca and Alex's wedding journey...
Starting at the beginning...how did your partner propose?
Alex and I had been together for just over 13 years when he proposed, so to say I was surprised is an understatement! He came out to join me in New York in February 2023 after I'd been on tour in America with my choir, and he proposed on our final night, just the two of us, at Cop Cot in Central Park.
Oh very romantic, and love after 13 years he was able to surprise you. When and Where did you get married?
We got married on Wednesday 7th August 2024 back at our family church of St Margaret's Church in Rainham, followed by a reception at the stunning Mount Ephraim Gardens near Faversham.

What colour/ theme did you go for?
My bridesmaids wore sage green dresses, however our theme was definitely flowers! Being able to celebrate in beautiful gardens in the height of summer, we wanted to embrace this as much as we could. My bridesmaid's sister, Sophie, was kind enough to gift us artwork for use on our invitations which incorporated our birth flowers, and so we carried this theme on through to our wedding. Our wonderful florist Jane really just 'got it' with the wild flower meadow theme, and we had so many comments on how beautiful the flowers were (particularly the staircase!).
Stunning, love the personal touch as well, always a great starting point. Now... Shopping for your dress... Tell us about it?!
Well, I thought I knew what I wanted and went to two wedding dress shops on the same day! I'd looked at
so many shops online and then narrowed it down to my top two. I specifically checked if the shops had 'dresses with sleeves' as I was adamant this is what I wanted (...apparently not!). So, in July 2023 me, my mum, my now mother-in-law and two bridesmaids had a wedding dress shopping day (I would definitely advise people to make a day of it!). My shopping experience was very different in each shop and what I loved so much about Vicki's is that we were left to pick out dresses in our own time with no pressure at all. Megan was so helpful and provided the most neutral questioning which really helped me to make my own mind up instead of being swayed by other's opinions! On that first Saturday, I was definitely overwhelmed and loved most of the (maybe 13?!) dresses that I tried on at Vicki's. Once I'd found my actual dress, I just couldn't take her off but needed a moment to breathe and take in the whole experience. Megan sent me away to think about it and then the next day I emailed to ask to come back! I went back to Vicki's the following Saturday, this time seeing Hannah, tried on 'my dress' and gorgeous veil and then celebrated with a glass of fizz with my mum in the nearby pub!
Sometimes you just need to step out of the space to know it's the one. Highlight from your Big Day.
So many highlights to what was an incredibly special day which reflected us as a couple to a tea. My choir (Vox Anima Chamber Choir) sang two songs in the church and then surprised us with a version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow (my favourite song!) At our wedding breakfast, which had been arranged specifically for us by a lovely friend (who also played the organ at our wedding). Let's just say there were a lot of tears from me as well as many other people at this point.
Your favourite photo from your big day - professional or moment captured by a guest.

Katie, our photographer, was so fabulous and caught so many gorgeous moments from our day! It's hard to pick a favourite, but this one is definitely up there!
Thank you so much for sharing your special day with us, Rebecca. We absolutely loved having you as a Vicki's Bride and feel very honored to have been part of your bridal journey. We wish you both a lifetime of happiness together.
